MCU1 TESLA REPAIR SERVICE

All Model S and X that were produced up to and including February 2018 have the MCU1.

This is the central computer of Tesla and is called the Media Control Unit.

The MCU1 has an 8 GB eMMC chip memory from Hynix or SKHynix, which is an SMD component mounted on all units, this is the culprit, all units are destined to fail at some point. 

Unfortunately, these chips have a limited life span, Data is written constantly  to the eMMC chip by the MCU's operating system and the onboard / installed applications. Eventually, the EMMC chip wears down and starts to produce some issues like the following...

- regular spontaneous system restarts

- message in the dashboard: "Wait until the vehicle systems have booted up"

- slow or no navigation

- Spotify and / or TuneIn hangers

- no mobile network

- no WiFi connection

- bad app connection

etc, etc,

Eventually the EMMC will completely die and vital data will be increasingly difficult to recover, costing you a lot more than you expect! 

If your MCU shows symptoms like this, don't hold out to the last minute..

Warranty from Tesla:

If your vehicle is still under the full warranty (less than 4 years or less than 80,000 km), in the event of a total failure of the MCU, it will be replaced with another MCU1.

If your vehicle no longer has a full warranty, the repair will be in the 4-digit range.

Repair details:

We use industrial chips like SWISSBIT or MICRON !

Why the larger capacity ? 

The additional storage space is used as a buffer, so that the chip will have a service life of around 7 times longer.

With normal vehicle use, this corresponds to a service life of more than 20 years !

The repair takes about 2 to 3 hours.

The boards will be returned with recorded delivery within 24 hours of completion.

One year warranty
